On the theme “And now what are you waiting for?” we try to ensure that communications before and during the General Assembly in Budapest is transparent and hopefully fast. We must seek ways of increasing participation for delegates, member churches, members and of course the media.

Arrangements for transportation in Budapest

Participants staying in the Danubius Health Spa Resort Margitsziget and Danubius Grand Hotel Margitsziget will be transported from the hotels to the venue each morning and back to the hotel each night.

Pray the business

Mindful of the need to ‘pray the business’ of the Assembly and rejoicing in the riches of the ecumenical experience of Christian worship, the programme will include regular prayers and services.

Julio Murray - keynote speaker

In Latin America, Christian followers expect CLAI (the Latin American Council of Churches) to be a signal of hope and empowerment to the humble and excluded giving witness through the diversity in the region.

That is why it is highly appropriate to have the man who has recently completed six years as CLAI president, the Rt Rev. Julio Murray, Bishop of the Episcopal (Anglican) Church of Panama, as the keynote speaker at the Conference of European Churches 14 Assembly in Budapest on July 4.

Hungarian Television correspondent Tislér Géza and MTVA camera director Attila Kilian drove more than 12 hours through rain to Geneva to shoot a television documentary about the 14th CEC Assembly.

Preparations of the Hungarian churches

The oldest and most significant institution of ecumenism in Hungary is the Ecumenical Council of Churches in Hungary founded in 1943. The Council has 11 Protestant and Orthodox member churches and works together with 22 other churches or church related organisations in Hungary and worldwide.

The CEC Assembly planning process

From May 26 – 29 the Assembly Planning Committee (APC) for the CEC Assembly meets in Stuttgart for their last meeting before the CEC General Assembly meets itself. Time will be spent on finalising preparations, in particularly details of the Assembly programme.
