Preparations of the Hungarian churches

The oldest and most significant institution of ecumenism in Hungary is the Ecumenical Council of Churches in Hungary founded in 1943. The Council has 11 Protestant and Orthodox member churches and works together with 22 other churches or church related organisations in Hungary and worldwide.

It is a great honour for the Council to welcome the 14th Assembly of the Conference of European Churches. A Local Planning Committee was established in February 2012 and a Local Coordinator was appointed to oversee the tasks related to the organisational process.

The main responsibilities of the hosting churches are arranging transportation from the hotels to the venue and organising a reception. Apart from these commitments there will be volunteers supporting the smooth running of the Assembly.

The Local Planning Committee meets on a regular basis each second month. The LPC and the General Secretary of the Council especially has great contacts to the State Secretariate and thank to this good relationship the CEC Assembly is supported by the Hungarian government and also the Mayor of Budapest.

If you have any questions regarding the Hungarian preparations do not hesitate to contact Orsolya Somosfalvi, Local Coordinator.
